A downloadable game for Windows

Rinha de Waifus is now on Steam! All devlogs and the full game will be there from now on. But i'll keep the updated demo here too.

Build a team of cute waifus, put them exactly where you want, and then let them fight. You don't control a single thing once the battle starts, so a win means your setup was right, but a loss means you get to stare at the wreckage and figure out why.

Modes

  • Campaign - Handcrafted fights that get harder as you go. Clear the section guarding a locked waifu and she joins your roster for every other mode.
  • Arena - A 10 match roguelite run. Draft a starting five, pick up a new waifu between matches, and create the best formation you can. One retry per match, then your score is locked in on the leaderboard.
  • Versus - Online 1v1 against a friend. Both of you place in secret, then watch the same battle resolve. Casual, or a best-of-five series if you want it competitive.
  • Sandbox - No rules, no limits. Build any formation, test any matchup and export it as a code.
  • Challenges - Take on a generated enemy formation, or paste a friend's code and try to beat it more efficiently than they did.

Every waifu fights differently

All seven bring their own stats, a signature skill (area bursts, stuns, dashes, piercing shots), and a set of playstyles. Tell one to hold the line, kite at range, or dive straight for the back row. The same team in the same spots can win or lose on that call alone.

Controls

If you have a mouse, you are good to go!

Pick the game mode, select waifus on the bottom drawer, place them on the field, then start the game in the top right. Simple as that!

Languages

Available in English and Brazilian Portuguese.

System requirements / platforms

The game should run well on the majority of systems. (Tests are still needed)

Available for Windows. (for now)

Installation

  1. Download the .zip file.
  2. Extract it to a folder of your choice. (Don't run the game from inside the zip as Windows can act weird with save files and settings.)
  3. Open the extracted folder and run RDW.exe.

Heads up about Windows SmartScreen: the first time you run the game, Windows may show a blue "Windows protected your PC" warning. This happens because the executable isn't code-signed. Getting a signing certificate is expensive, and most indie devs (myself included) skip it. To run it anyway, click More info and then Run anyway.

FAQ

What does RDW mean?

  • It means Rinha de Waifu, the original Portuguese name of the game. The word "Rinha" is pretty unique and hard to find a 1 to 1 translation, but it means a fight or battle for entertainment.

How long do you expect the game to be under development?

  • I still don't know. I want to add new waifus, new mechanics and a better way for players share formations and play it. So there's a lot to do and I still have a full-time job.

Is the game NSFW?

  • No. Everything is SFW. I still don't know if any suggestive art will be added in the future, but I'll let the community know beforehand. (Maybe some pixel art bikinis. 🤔)
